I can't decide when to start. Now or in a few years?
I can't decide what to use. Rosetta Stone or Pimsleur? (Our library system carries Pimsleur, so I'm leaning towards that or a combo of both.)
I can't even settle on what language to study! Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish, French?
Thoughts?

Spanish is the drop-dead easiest language for most English speakers to learn and has an extremely wide application in the US (assuming you are in the US/Western Hemishere).
My mom said French was the most beautiful language she had ever heard (her choice when she was in school); Arabic and Chinese have an extremely marketable future, but present big challenges. They require jumping an initial hurdle of not even using the same alphabet (Chinese - not at all!) and use sounds very foreign to our ears/tongues (pardon the puns). Will you have access to tutors or native speakers, say a university or large city? If you plan to go past a mere introduction, they will be all but required for the latter two choices especially.
